The Institute for Marketecology (IMO) is one of the oldest and most respected organizations offering inspection, certification and quality-assurance services for eco-friendly products. IMO is accredited by the
Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS), according to EN 45004 and EN 45011 (ISO 65), which is the international standard for certification. They are accredited to offer many types of organic standards, including regulatory/governmental standards (such as
USDA National Organic Program (NOP) and the EU Regulation (EEC) Nr. 2092/91) and private standards (such as KRAV and Bio Suisse).
IMO was significantly involved in developing the
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and was the first certification agency approved to offer certification for organic textiles produced under this standard.
