Polypropylene is rugged, heat-resistant, chemical-resistant polymer that is used in a wide variety of applications including reusable containers (including those for food), laboratory equipment, car batteries, wastebaskets, coolers, disposable diapers, storage bags, flip-top lids, and carpets. It is identified by #5 on items made from it.
Bisphenol-A (BPA) is not used in the production of PP. BPA is used to make polycarbonate, which is a different form of plastic.
