What is polyester? What is polyester?

Polyester is a synthetic (petroleum-based) fiber with a high-strength, excellent resiliency, high abrasion resistance, and low absorbency (so the fibers dry quickly). It is smooth and lightweight and resistant to creasing, stretching, shrinking and mildew. Polyester washes well and is not damaged by sun or weather. It can be difficult to remove stains from polyester and it does not breathe as well as fabrics made from natural fibers, such as hemp, cotton and linen.
