What is Lycra?
What is Lycra?Lycra is a tradename of Invista for their brand of spandex, a synthetic fiber with exceptional elasticity. Spandex was invented by a DuPont chemist in the late 1950s and is stronger and more durable than rubber. Lycra is considered an elastomeric fiber, one that can be stretched and expanded to twice its original length.

Lycra may be stretched repeatedly and still recover its original length. It is lightweight, abrasion-resistant, easily dyed, comfortable, soft and smooth. It is commonly used as a small percentage of the total textile material in swimsuits, wetsuits, activewear, bras, leggings, socks, and underwear.

Our Customers Say ...
  • "Customer service is exceptional and very attentive. I was updated on all parts of the ordering process via email messages. Plus, I had chosen a faster, more expensive shipping method (UPS 3 day), but they wrote and told me it was faster and cheaper to send via UPS Ground because of my location. Highly recommend this store and will definitely shop here again!"
