Yep, we're a one-woman company. If you email with a question or call on the phone, I'll be the one to reply or return your call. When you place an order, I'll be the one who'll pack, process and ship it. From managing inventory and purchasing to accounting to customer service to web design and marketing, I wear all the hats.
When I first started working on this company in 1999, there were only a handful of online stores selling organic baby products. Since then I've seen my competition swell to hundreds, if not thousands, of online stores as well as brick-and-mortar stores, but I've also seen plenty of those companies go out of business. Nearly ten years after I first started this business I certainly feel like I have learned enough to have earned an MBA, with honors!
The philosophies of KidBean.com are not just talk--they are the same philosophies and ethics by which I live my own life. Veganism, organic gardening, animal rights, die-hard environmentalism, political and social activism, energy-conservation, non-violence, homeschooling (i.e. unschooling or life-long learning)...they all play a major role in my own life and my everyday choices. I've been known as a perfectionist for most of my life, and that especially applies to the products I choose for my own family. If I wouldn't use it with my own family, you won't find it for sale on KidBean.com.
For more about how I raise my children, see the book I co-authored, What's It Like Living Green?: Kids Teaching Kids, by the Way They Live.
