If I place an order online, when will it ship?

Effective 8-Jan-2008 I will be shipping orders within 2-3 business days after they were placed. This lead time is neccesary for me to keep up with the current volume of orders.

All other items typically ship according the Availability specified on the products' pages.


If I place an order by mail, when will it ship?

If you placed your order by mail and paid with a check, I may delay shipping your order for as long as 21 days. I will send you an e-mail confirmation when your order is shipped.


What if one or more of the items I ordered are out-of-stock (backordered)?

I do my best to keep the website updated nightly with current inventory. I will notify you of any backordered items via phone or e-mail within two business days of the date I receive your order.


What shipping methods do you offer?

Effective 26-Jan-2008, you may choose from the following shipping methods for orders shipped within the United States:

  • Standard, 1-7 business days transit time (my choice of UPS Ground, USPS Priority Mail or USPS First Class Mail)
  • UPS 3 Day Select
  • UPS 2nd Day Air
  • UPS Next Day Air Saver
  • UPS Next Day Air

See rates for Standard Shipping below. For all expedited methods, I charge the actual cost (for UPS, these are their published daily pick-up account rates; for USPS, these are their published counter rates).

For orders shipping to Canada, you may choose from these shipping methods:

  • UPS Standard to Canada
  • UPS Worldwide Expedited
  • UPS Worldwide Express

Customers shipping to Canada will be charged the actual shipping cost (for UPS, these are their published daily pick-up account rates; for USPS, these are their published counter rates) plus a $5/shipment handling fee to cover the cost of import/export documents.


What if I received only part of my order?

To offer you the speediest possible service, items ordered together may not ship together. By shipping large/oversized/bulky items directly from our suppliers to your door, we are also helping reduce the carbon footprint of our business because these items are shipped only once, rather than twice (once to our warehouse and then again to your door).

We clearly indicate each item's Availability on its page near its price, and also specify in its description (near the bottom) if it is drop-shipped. We will bundle together items with the same Availabilities whenever possible to reduce packaging and minimize the environmental impact of shipping.

We will email you a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information for each shipment. You will only be charged for items that have shipped.


What packing materials do you use?

I ship most orders in used boxes (from local health food stores or from incoming shipments) or in recycled (post-consumer waste) bubble envelopes. Note that reused boxes may have previously been used for non-vegan products!

Because it utilizes substantially less energy to reuse than to recycle, I will reuse packing materials whenever possible, rather than buy new, although recycled, materials. Most packing materials are also reused.

Do your part--please reuse and/or recycle the materials used to pack and ship your order! If you do not have a need for them, you may take them to a business that ships packages--most will gladly accept them!


Can you ship to FPO/APO addresses?

Most items may be shipped to FPO/APO military addresses. Orders will be shipped through the Postal Service because UPS does not ship to PO Boxes. Some oversized/bulky items cannot be shipped to FPO/APO addresses, such as our mattresses, futons, furniture, and wooden unit blocks. You will be notified by email if any items in your order cannot be shipped to your FPO/APO address.


How much do you charge for shipping?

Effective 26-Jan-2008 the following shipping rates will apply for orders shipped with Standard Shipping* to domestic (US) addresses:

These shipping charges do not apply to the following products:

  • Mattresses (all sizes larger than crib), for which we charge freight costs in accordance with our Mattress Shipping Information
  • Futons (all sizes larger than crib), for which we charge the actual freight cost
  • Organic Cotton Batting, for which we charge the actual shipping cost
  • Wooden Unit Blocks (all sizes larger than our Small Kits), for which we charge the actual shipping cost

If you choose an invalid expedited shipping method (such as UPS Next Day Air Saver for a destination for which this service is not available) OR if my online shipping calculator displays free shipping when your order does not qualify for this (because it does not contain at least $100.01 of eligible items (see below)), I will ship your order using the cheapest comparable method and adjust your shipping costs to the actual cost (for expedited methods) or the appropriate cost from the Standard Shipping rate table above.

If you choose an expedited UPS shipping method (such as UPS 3 Day Select) but UPS Ground service will arrive in the same or less transit time, then I will ship your order via UPS Ground and charge you the actual cost (i.e. the published daily pick-up account rate)--saving you money, and often time.

FREE SHIPPING TERMS:

  • Your order subtotal must be at least $100.01 (BEFORE taxes, shipping, handling, gift wrap and any other fees).
  • Excluded items are listed above. If you have questions about whether an item qualifies, please contact me BEFORE you place your order.
  • Your order may be shipped via UPS and/or USPS, so please provide your mailing address AND your street address, if different. If you need to provide two addresses, you may use the Comments box.
  • Offer valid for orders shipped to 48 contiguous US states only. Orders over $100 that are shipped to HI, AK, or US territories will be charged the actual shipping cost (for UPS, this is their published daily pick-up account rate; for USPS, this is their published counter rate).


What if my order is returned to KidBean.com?

If your order is returned to me undelivered (i.e. due to an error in your address or if you are not available to accept your package), I reserve the right to charge an extra returned shipment fee of $10. I may also charge actual shipping to re-ship your order to you.


What if my shipping address needs to be corrected?

If an address correction is necessary (for example, due to an error in your address), I will pass along to the billing party any fee that we are charged by the carrier. UPS typically charges $5/package for this service.


Do you ship internationally?

Effective 21-Apr-2008, I have resumed shipping to Canada only. I expect to offer worldwide shipping options again in June.
